Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Overview

Design and Durability

The S25 Ultra features a 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display with a 1440p resolution and 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Built with Titanium Frame Grade 5 and Corning Gorilla Armor 2 front and protection, it retains the IP68 rating and S Pen support.

As far as colour concerned, the Galaxy 25 Ultra comes with Titanium Whitesilver, Titanium Gray, Titanium Black, and Titanium Silverblue.

Performance and Cooling System

Powered by the Qualcomm SM8750-AB Snapdragon 8 Elite (3 nm) chipset, the Ultra model boasts 45% faster CPU performance and 50% improved GPU efficiency over the S24 Ultra. The CPU core configuration is also interesting yet most powerful. It’s an Octa-core (2×4.47 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix L + 6×3.53 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix M). It uses a 40% larger cooling system for sustained gaming.

Camera Upgrades

The quad-camera setup includes a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 10MP Telephoto with 3x optical zoom. The primary, the periscope and the telephoto lenses have inbuilt OIS support. I don’t know whether the main camera supports the in-camera sensor shift-technology. New AI features include 8K HDR, HDR10+ video recording and Astro Hyperlapse for night photography. For selfie, it’s a 12MP lens with 4K60FPS HDR10+ recording capabilities but does not OIS support.

S25 Ultra camera technical details:

  • 200 MP, f/1.7, 24mm (wide), 1/1.3″, 0.6µm, multi-directional PDAF, OIS
  • 10 MP, f/2.4, 67mm (telephoto), 1/3.52″, 1.12µm, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom
  • 50 MP, f/3.4, 111mm (periscope telephoto), 1/2.52″, 0.7µm, PDAF, OIS, 5x optical zoom
  • 50 MP, f/1.9, 120˚ (ultrawide), 0.7µm, dual pixel PDAF, Super Steady video
  • Front camera: 12 MP, f/2.2, 26mm (wide), 1/3.2″, 1.12µm, dual pixel PDAF

Battery and Charging

A 5,000mAh battery supports 45W wired charging (PD3.0) thats charges up 0-65% in 30 minutes, 100% in around 60 minutes, 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging (wireless powerbank). Samsung also includes a Battery Health Engine to extend lifespan (when used, charging automatically stops at 80% level everytime). This is a very useful feature provided to keep the battery health same for up to 4 years of long use. I have also tested this feature on my other samsung phone, and my battery still works as new.

Software and Security

Running One UI 7.0 on Android 15, the S25 Ultra guarantees 7 years of major android updates (starting from android 16 to 22), pretty long enough, ha-ha. Enhanced security features include ultrasonic fingerprint scanning and Samsung Knox Vault.
