When the company’s CEO Ellen Pao was ousted by a massive pay-for-performance scandal, she stepped down as CEO, but the company still had the C7 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and the company continues to make laptops.
The company has also been a leader in wearable tech, like the Oculus Rift, with the Rift line of smartwatches, and it’s also got the Razer Blade.
Pao’s successor, Steve Ballmer, has had a bit more success as CEO with Microsoft, and Ballmer’s Microsoft is also now owned by Alphabet.
Microsoft also announced a deal with a startup called Niantic Labs, to build a “social VR game” with augmented reality.
Apple is also rumored to be working on a new virtual reality headset with the Oculus and Samsung, but that deal is currently still in the works.
Apple is looking to add more gaming-focused devices to the Apple lineup this year, with Apple TV, Apple TV streaming, and Apple Watch Series 3 all rumored to include virtual reality headsets.
A lot of these devices have been rumored for a long time, and we’re going to see a lot more of them this year.
