The new Lava Blaze X 5G is a feature-packed multi-purpose Indian smartphone that made its debut on Amazon.in on 16 July 2024. With a large 6.67-inch (16.94 centimetres) 120Hz FHD+ 3D curved AMOLED display, it offers very-very deep immersive video, photo and content viewing experience. The Lava Blaze X 5G price in Nepal is रु24,398.4 for the 8GB/128GB variant (unofficial) and ₹15,999 for the same variant in India (official). The sale officially starts on 20 July 2024 at 12AM targeting Amazon Prime Day (20th – 21st July).
The phone runs on Android™ 14 out of the box and is powered by the TSMC’s 6 nanometre fabrication process technology based MediaTek the Dimensity 6300 chip set with up to 420K AnTuTu scores which is quite a decent score ever under ₹15000 price segment in India in 2024. Please note that it is not launched in Nepal yet.
It comes in one storage option with RAM options ranging from 4GB, 6GB and 8GB. You will get 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM boost with 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM variants respectively. The device features a dual-camera setup with a 64MP primary Sony AI lens and a 2MP macro camera with LED flashlight, and a 16MP selfie lens with screen flash feature. Additionally, it boasts a massive single-cell 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging. The phone is ads, bloatware and unwanted apps free with in-display fingerprint sensor and an assured upgrade to Android 15. Oh my God!
Lava Blaze X 5G unboxing
It comes in black-coloured box with the phone’s animated pictures on the front top face of the box. Inside the box, you get SIM card tool, documentation, good quality frosted transparent TPU case with big round circle for the entire camera module, a 33W type-C charging adapter with 1m type-C to type-C charging cable. The phone does supports 33W fast charging technology. However, phone doesn’t have hole for the 3.5 mm jack but they have provided the USB type-c to 3.5mm jack adapter for you. So, thumbs up and excellent for that.
Design, colour, in-hand feel and build quality
The phone comes with big circular black island design with two camera modules and one flashlight module which look stunning and gorgeous, by the way. The camera module is similar to vivo X90 and Xiaomi 14 CiVi. The phone comes in Moonstone Matte Finish, Titanium Grey and Starlight Purple colours. It’s carved with well graded plastic back that gives you glass back feeling. The back looks excellent. It is not fingerprint magnet. This means you will have no any fingerprint impressions and touches to see.
The in-hand feel is very premium and quite lightweight. I think some master engineering has been done there to make this phone quite lightweight, in spite of all these crazy features! The front screen is a 3D curved FHD+ AMOLED display. I think the display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection (guessed). The phone has plastic body that gives vibes of glass finish and feels quite premium ones. The phone seems slightly big in small hands but it does not feel to be that much heavier in hands as it is kept lightweight. So, thumbs up for that. It has 3D curved design.
Ports and buttons
On the bottom, there is a microphone, USB type-C slot, speaker grill, and SIM Card tray slot. The bottom is quite busy 😀. On the left-hand side, you can see there is nothing. On the top, you have a noise-cancelling microphone. There is no dedicated infrared sensor or IR blaster. On the right-hand side, it has a dedicated power on-off button, and a volume up and down button. That’s it. But friend, tell me what you think about the POCO M6 Pro 5G ports and buttons? Comment!!
Weight, battery and charging
I can say, the Lava Blaze X 5G has an unbalanced weight of about 183.6gm which is good and obvious because of the massive 5,000 mAh battery. I said unbalanced weight because the upper side is heavier than the lower ones due to the big as well as rounded camera module.
Display
If I talk about the display, then Lava Blaze X 5G has a crazy punchy 394 PPI 6.67-inch 3D curved 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display with 800nits peak brightness. The display does supports easily 120Hz refresh rate with 99.9% working efficiency rate. It’s the modern age required refresh rate display phone under Rs. 15K budget. It also supports up to 240Hz TSR (Touch Sampling Rate, unofficial). The video viewing angle is also mind boggling. Sharp at every corner. One thing is sure that the Lava Blaze X stands for its display.
You should not have any problem in medium sun light, but there may be difficulty in visibility under direct or harsh sunlight because of the 800nits brightness. Display bezels and chin are very-very thin. Like other smartphones, it also seems very much modern and premium category mobile phone since it is a 3D curved AMOLED panel and centred punch hole selfie camera display. Brilliant in display department.
Specification
Lava Blaze X 5G comes with Mediatek Dimensity 6300 CPU. It’s an upgraded CPU with max clock speed up to 2.4GHz and is fabricated on TSMC’s 6-nanometre process, which is a very-very capable processor under 15K. If I talk about its scores, it gives us up to 4,26,890 real-life AnTuTu scores. It’s quite decent because of lesser price. You can play in low to medium gaming settings. You should not have any problem. So, it provides you such a decent gaming experience.
It has a dual nano SIM card slot. So, you can use 2 SIM cards only, and there is no space for SD card. I hoped for at least hybrid SIM card slot. Let me know what you like: dual nano, hybrid or dedicated SIM card slots? Comment down below.
Performance
The Lava Blaze X 5G also seems superb in performance sector. If I talk about the gaming department of this phone, you can play up to 30FPS on low to medium settings, which is again decent considering this 15K price segment. It comes in 4GB, 6GB and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM with single 128GB UFS 2.2 storage on all variants. The 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM variants have 4GB, 6GB and 8GB virtual RAM expansion capabilities. It mainly targets casual users that play videos or use social sites most of the time.
OS and UI
Lava Blaze X 5G comes with Android 14 out of the box. The operating system is based on Android 14, and as usual, they have promised to give 1 year of major android version update (up to android 15), and 2 years of security updates. Hope, they give timely updates because Lava is slow at delivering timely software updates. I also found that there are no ads and bloatware in the system at all.
The OS and UI are native and clean Android experience. There are literally very few third-party applications. You can install any apps when needed.
It has some premium features like YouTube background play that means you can keep listening to music in background or even after locking your device. So, feature-wise, very nice.
Since it has 3D curved display, so, it offers features like edge lighting. The edge lighting works as a notification light informing you of any missed calls, messages, push notifications. Cool feature, I can say. It also has Always on Display (AOD) feature, by the way.
Multimedia
Lava Blaze X 5G has AMOLED display with resolution of Full HD+ and the qualities and colours the display produces are very-very clear and sharp, at every angle, with 16.7 million colours. It does not have the 3.5mm headphone jack, but it does provide an USB to 3.5mm jack adapter. There are mono speakers which are loud and have decent sound quality. So, overall, it’s a very good multimedia device.
Connectivity
The Lava Blaze X 5G is a 5G phone and supports a whooping of 13 5G bands across India with dual 4G VoLTE and VoNR feature. It also supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands allowing you to connect to various available Wi-Fi networks. It also includes features like Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Display and wireless screen-casting. The Lava Blaze X 5G uses Bluetooth version 5.2. It supports Bluetooth HD Audio Protocol. The phone has no support for NFC and IR blaster.
Sensors
The Lava Blaze X 5G has in-display fingerprint sensor, face unlock and all other sensors are present that we find on any other smartphones, and all of them are working very well.
Additional features
The Lava Blaze X 5G does come with FM radio, edge light which also works as notification light, SAR value is within the limit, IP53 certification being splash and dust proof and GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO and BDS for positioning. It also supports Widevine L1, so, you can stream video in FHD quality. They provide FREE SERVICE @HOME, for repairing your phone.
Camera
Since Lava Blaze X 5G is budget phone, you can’t expect much about camera. But it has a 64MP primary Sony sensor, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 16MP front facing punch hole selfie camera for taking punchy coloured photos, which are social media ready ones. Photos from primary back sensor come out to be good under good lighting condition, which is social media worthy, by the way. Do check this G. Drive links for original photos taken using this phone before jumping into buying this device.
You can do videography at 2K resolution with up to 30 Frames Per Second (FPS) with primary sensor, and 1080p with selfie sensor. Camera app supports native 64MP 2X mode, night mode, video mode, film mode, photo mode, portrait mode, beauty mode, document correction mode, GroupPhoto mode, AI Emoji mode, Gif, Pro Mode, Dual-View mode, Pro video, Panorama, UHD, Slow Motion, Time Lapse and Macro mode. So, you can use these different modes to take different types of moody and diverse types of atmospheric photographs.
The primary camera sensor supports EIS only, but not OIS. I think, they should have given OIS primary sensor.
